Pavol Remenár

Slovak baritone Pavol Remenár is the soloist of the Slovak National Theatre Opera in Bratislava. His debut at the Slovak first opera scene came in September 2000 when he sung the title role of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Since then, he has performed many operatic roles on this stage, including Belcore (Donizetti: L´elisir d’amore), Figaro (Rossini: Il barbiere di Siviglia), Dandini (Rossini: La Cenerentola), The Count (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro), Papageno (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Orfeus (Gluck: Orfeo ed Euridice), Silvio (Leoncavallo: I pagliacci), Marcello and Schaunard (Puccini: La bohème), Sharpless (Puccini: Madama Butterfly), Valentin (Gounod: Faust), Eugen Onegin (Tchaikovsky: Eugene Onegin), Tomeš (Smetana: The Kiss), Prus (Janacek: The Makropulos Affair), Mojmír (Eugen Suchoň: Svätopluk), Harlequin (R. Strauss: Ariadna auf Naxos) etc.

Collaborated with several major European opera directors as Mariusz Trelinsky, Peter Konwitschny, Gintaras Varnas, Nikola Raab. During the 2010/2011 season, Pavol Remenár sang the title role of Eugene Onegin at the Leipzig Opera (directed by Peter Konwitschny) and he returned to Leipzig in the same role in the 2011/2012 season. He made his debut at the Budapest State Opera as Onegin in 2010, where he sung the same role in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In June 2011 he made his debut in Zurich Opera in the role of Gorjancikov in the new production of Janáček’s opera From the House of the Dead (directed by Peter Konwitschny, conducted by Ingo Metzmacher, premiere on 4th of June 2011). Remenár is a frequent guest on stage of the State Opera in Prague. He is also passionate in his concert activities and songs interpretation with orchestras as well as in chamber music. His main chamber music partner is the guitarist Miriam Rodriguez Brüllová. Remenár performed in many countries as Finland, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Japan…

Pavol Remenár was born in Dolné Dubové in Slovakia. He graduated from the College of pedagogy at Komenský University, Bratislava, where he also was a soloist of the college choir Comenius. In 1996 he took first place at the Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský International Singing Competition and in 1999 he was a finalist of the Lucia Popp International Singing Competition in Bratislava. In 2000 he graduated from the Academy of Music in Bratislava where he studied at the class of Prof. Vlasta Hudecová.
